Consumed

A Poem

We are consumed
and turned into objects.

And then we are
objects wanting objects.

A culture of wanting
and wanting to want

is no way
to have a society

no way
to have a soul

no way
to ensure

a better world
for anyone

when
too

many of us
are

consumed,
Consumed, consuming,

object and objectified,
all want and wanting.

Bottomless pits
we never explore

because if we go down
like Indiana Jones

our feet will just land on bones
that crunching sound of

shallow forgotten lives
used up by the systems

they gave their very lives to.
