Hi Nathan Boyett. It just hit me a bit. I teach Sociology. I teach about race and class and gender. And while I love this ride — because it is not a roller coaster, it is sweet, it is dark and cool, I did notice that there was a bit of Disney magic at the end that sort of did the very Disney thing of saying we are all together we are all the same — all the adorable dolls in white, unity, etc — but all singing in English now too — I just sort of took this for literal impact — there’s that tension in life between unity and diversity and often in the USA it ends up being okay we are all the same and all diverse but let’s all lean towards being mostly white/doing what mostly white America feels is acceptable and understandable — if this makes sense? So, Sociologically for more impact maybe at the end every doll could have kept their own culture symbolically but still been in this last scene together? I get the message but I also get the sort of tension in it, if this makes sense? And yet, I still love it, yes. There’s no strong feeling here, just one that happens when there’s Disney and race and American culture and diversity where you want to applaud any good effort but also have questions and wishes and some dreams for better ways to truly see and include people for all of who they are, — I hope that made some degree of sense, and thank you for being here!
