They sure are out of touch with most economic reality!

As a writer on the internet if I want to use free and quality images to draw attention to my work, I have to use stock photos. We all do. Unless we are amazing artists or photographers or have the money to pay for images that are not public domain.

The more I use these things, the more I have concerns. Well, okay. Sometimes it is funny. Some of the images are just flat out wild. But in my recent search for “lunch” or “lunch box” or “kitchen” it hit me. Most of these photos are elitist and out of touch with reality.

Nothing is remotely relatable to my life. Nothing is remotely relatable to most lunches, lunch boxes, or kitchens I have ever seen.

Aside from the kitchen of a wealthy gay white man who was the actual heir to an American beer corporation. I mean I have seen that. But even when I was in his kitchen it was like being in a foreign, nay, alien, universe. A giant stove that was never used! Two refrigerators! Decorative plates and no clutter?!
